Scott and Dexter were absolutely professional, personable, and hard working. They proved adaptable with a few problems that arose. However.... those problems would have been eliminated, or decreased, if the organizer/dispatch had issued them proper equipment. 1 - should have been a lift truck, not a ramped truck for a 540 lbs. piano. 2 - should have had a proper dolly with body holster straps, not short 2' straps. Give your guys some weightlifting belts, at least. 3 - should have had 3rd man for the job. I, myself, had to help with much of the lifting at pickup and delivery. Luckily, there were other people there helping move at the pickup site, as it took 5 people to get the piano up the ramp (from ground level - no loading dock) without a proper dolly! And a 15-20 minute interruption due to the boss calling is poor form on the boss' end. As well, the dispatch should stay on top of things to make sure that delays are effectively communicated to waiting clients, especially with a 3 hour delay. The movers are out there sweating trying to keep to schedules and fighting traffic, not sitting in the air-conditioned office. Putting that on them is silly At the least make it a team effort. Bottom line? Yes, I'd use these guys again in a heartbeat, but I'd make sure to be a total pain in the ass and communicate effectively EXACTLY what should be done. I'll admit I should have not made any assumptions and would have done better to have communicated these criteria beforehand. It was all a last minute scenario, so I do applaud Scott and Dexter to making it happen, in the end. And, yes, I have 40 years experience in the music industry and have coordinated and moved many pianos. Thanks and hope this is of assistance for future moves.
